Do you have access to technology in your classroom? If so, you must check out these three easy to use websites for brain mapping. My students love to use these websites. Help them get their thoughts in order for research projects, essays, group projects- pretty much anything! When you assign your students an assignment and they get to use one of these websites, they will be having fun while working (win-win)!
Bubbl.Us
The first website is called bubbl.us. There are blank templates for your students to start with, or they can build as they go. The text boxes appear on the bubbles as you go. There are little arrows on the sides of the bubble that allow you to create a new bubble. Students can also grab them and slide them around the page as they go.
A quick click on the bubble, allows you to change the text size/color. The bubble color can also be changed. There is another option for students to link different bubbles together. It is a great website for customization so students can get exactly what they need.
MindMup
Up next is an easy website to use called MindMup. After creating your first bubble, you can easily add another by pressing tab. It is seriously that simple. The map moves itself so the bubbles do not overlap or cover each other.
My favorite part about MindMup is it allows you to make public brain maps (for free) or you can make private brain maps by linking to your Google Drive account. If you are a Google School, this would be the perfect way to have students share their brain maps.
MindMapFree
The last brain mapping site that my students like to use is MindMapFree. This site is very easy to use. The first time students use it, they can even have a quick tutorial as they start creating. Students create a map by pulling a red dot around on the grid. Drag the red dot and a new text box appears. It is so easy.
